Tokyo, September 20 2021 – Rakuten Group, Inc. announced today that, together with FC Barcelona, they will bring back The Big Picture, a massive fan mosaic on the main facade of Camp Nou – FC Barcelona’s iconic club stadium. The first version of this larger-than-life tribute to fans was presented in the 2020/2021 season and will now return to engage fans for the 2021/2022 season.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, fans were missing live games in an era of spectator-less sports. FC Barcelona and Main Global Partner Rakuten innovated with an entirely new concept to connect fans with their favorite sports team and bring optimism to their lives. The Big Picture initiative gave fans the unique opportunity of having their pictures embedded in a larger-than-life mosaic in Camp Nou, bringing to life Rakuten’s philosophy of ‘walk together’ and FC Barcelona’s commitment to being ‘more than a club’. Fans across the globe submitted photos that went on to become part of a unique 47.7m x 9.6m massive fan mosaic featuring 46,000 images in the form of an artwork installation at the main façade of Camp Nou.

To create a moment of togetherness and bring fans closer to their team stadium, Rakuten and FC Barcelona once again present fans with an opportunity to become part of club history through a brand-new massive fan mosaic which will be unveiled in November 2021 on Camp Nou’s main facade. Fans will be able to use their Rakuten IDs to find their picture in the new The Big Picture mosaic at Camp Nou using WebAR functionality and a digital photo wall.

Fans will be able to register and upload a photo of themselves cheering Barça on a dedicated website for the opportunity to become a part of the new massive fan mosaic alongside FC Barcelona players between September 17 and October 17 (till 23:59 CEST). Rakuten will also give away FC Barcelona jerseys from the 2021/2022 season to selected winners through a giveaway which is open to all fans whose photos have been accepted for The Big Picture mosaic.
