Club Rakuten is launched in UK

Rakuten’s goal is to build an ecosystem in Europe that rewards members and customers. In the U.K.,  Rakuten recently launched Club Rakuten – a membership program set to reward everyone who joins the club.

Ecosystem in Europe

In Europe, Rakuten has been active for more than a decade and has constantly been growing its footprint. Rakuten’s European network of business units consists of more than 14 services from shopping, communications, and digital content to advertising and app building., available in almost every European country and the HQ located in Luxembourg and offices in London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, and other major European cities. Rakuten is more than just a company, it’s a vision of a true Ecosystem, always putting the customer at the core of its activities.

Launch of Club Rakuten

With the launch of Club Rakuten in the U.K., Rakuten is taking the next step to unify its diverse portfolio.

Club Rakuten will bring together Rakuten’s existing U.K. brands (Rakuten TV, Rakuten Kobo, and Rakuten Viber) with more than 250 partnerships across retail and experiences with global brands like Booking.com, Lego, and ASOS to create a robust, customer-centric membership rewards program unlike any other in Europe.

Rakuten Super Points bring rewards

Now, members of Club Rakuten benefit from Rakuten’s unique membership preposition – the Rakuten Points. Through everyday shopping in multiple categories, members of the Club Rakuten can easily earn points and later redeem them in a wide variety of ways including gift cards to help them shop smartly and reduce household spending.

Besides shopping, points can also be used to create nice moments with family and friends, for example by watching blockbusters on Rakuten TV and experiencing a true cinematic experience at home. Moreover, members receive discounts on a wide range of movies as well as book purchases with Kobo.

And because Rakuten’s core mission is to empower societies, Rakuten also enables its members to donate to one of 20,000 charities. „Inspired by Rakuten’s remarkably popular points program in Japan, which has rewarded more than 2 trillion points (a value of approx. 18.8 billion USD), Club Rakuten will empower U.K. members to like never before“, adds Rakuten Europe’s CEO Toshihiko “Toby” Otsuka.

Through the exclusive partnerships with Southbank Center and the British Fashion Council, members can get VIP treatment including priority access and free upgrades at events.

And Toby adds: „The site is a springboard from which we intend to add further breadth and depth of service, personalization, enhanced perks, and additional partners. The end goal: To offer a highly tailored, relevant, and rewarding Rakuten Ecosystem experience to our customers in Europe.“
